Self-respect cannot be hunted.  It cannot be purchased.  It is never for sale.  It cannot be fabricated out of public relations.  It comes to us when we are alone, in quiet moments, in quiet places, when we suddenly realize that, knowing the good, we have done it; knowing the beautiful, we have served it; knowing the truth we have spoken it.  ~Whitney Griswold

How do you challenge your self perception in the most grueling way? From a recent experience in the past week, I learn that campaigning yourself would be the best way to do that. I realized that an act of self-promotion would force us to constantly re-evaluate how similar are our presented selves and our perceived selves. Our presented selves being the way we present ourselves as means of our self promotion be it true or not, and our perceived selves being the way people around us already identify us with and the way we see ourselves (and the two of them alone can be very very different).
